We've all had the experience of wanting something that has eluded us. Maybe it's wealth, possessions, maybe it's a relationship, maybe it's optimum health or other physical attributes which for some reason or another we have not been able to conjure up.
When my wife and I were in the market for a new home, we created together what I call a 'vision board'. We gathered up some arts and crafts supplies--poster board, glue stick, some magazines, photos, etc. and we mapped out exactly what we wanted in a house. We wanted something over 4,000 square feet, not too far from the water, not far from the mountains, on some acreage, in the Pacific Northwest, and as a lark, my wife added something she had wanted since she was a little girl--a gazebo.
So what happened? Well, six months later our realtor brought us to this dream house, down to the gazebo, and we bought it.
I know, I know. . . it sounds nuts. I can even almost hear the collective negativity of the possibility that we could manifest our dream home with art supplies. My intention is not to change you from a cynic into a believer. . . I am only interested in passing on what has worked for me and what has worked for my students. You can take it or leave it. I hope you will at least suspend the cynicism for a moment and give this a try.
If you're with me so far, you're probably asking, 'How does this work?'
In an earlier post I spoke of befriending our other-than-conscious gentle giants-the great unconscious. And if you haven't read that article, please do so because there is some powerful information on how we can ask for help when we need it and get it.
This is key: what we think about and look at and concentrate on is what we attract to us. In contacting our gentle giant, we are asking for what we want in life.
This is important-we're not asking for what we don't want. We're not saying: 'I don't want any more debt.' Because that will bring us more debt. We're not saying: 'I don't want to continue to have bad relationships.' Because that will bring us more of the same.
When we concentrate on what we want, instead of what we don't want, and doing this in a tactile way (i.e. creating something with our hands), we are able to more quickly set our intention and speed up our natural ability to manifest exactly what we want.
After you've finished your vision board, put it somewhere where you will see it for at least ten minutes a day. This could be the ceiling in your bedroom, the wall in your bathroom. . . anywhere where you spend time.
One of my students even scanned his vision board and turned it into wallpaper on his computer screen. He even went so far as to create a webpage that he could go to from any computer in the world just to call up the image of what he's manifesting.
Once you scan your vision board, you can shrink it and print it out the size of a 3 by 5 photograph. This way you can carry it with you everywhere you go and occasionally have a look at it to remind yourself what you're manifesting.
